A practical checklist for turning layout information into a model your operations team can verify.

Prepare the source

Gather the latest floor plan, its units, revision date, and the person responsible for it. Identify walls, doors, fixtures, aisles, and restricted zones. Review the input requirements in the documentation and confirm the import scope during onboarding.

Verify geometry before adding data

Compare key dimensions with a known measurement. Check fixture orientation, duplicate objects, blocked routes, and missing entrances. Keep a list of ambiguous objects for the site team to resolve instead of guessing their meaning.

Create a review checkpoint

Ask a site operator to walk through the model against the current floor plan. Capture corrections and approve a version before attaching inventory or running scenarios. Keep the source drawing and model revision together so changes remain traceable.
