Choose a change your team is considering: moving a fixture, adjusting a picking route, or changing shift coverage. Define the alternatives and who will approve the result before selecting a modeling approach.
Match the model to the question
A layout comparison needs dimensions and physical constraints. A staffing scenario also needs demand, service times, and operating rules. More visual detail does not necessarily make a decision more reliable; prioritize the inputs that affect the outcome.
Close the loop on the floor
Treat the model as a testable hypothesis. Compare its baseline with observed operations, record disagreements, and revise assumptions. Trial the selected change in a limited area and measure the same outcome after implementation.
