Your first digital twin project: a practical walkthrough

Choose a facility and a question

Start with a facility whose layout and operating data you can access. Write a question such as: how would moving this promotional display affect the path to checkout? Name the store or operational owner and agree what evidence would justify a change.1

Assemble and review the inputs

Gather the latest layout, fixture information, product or location identifiers, and a representative data sample. Record units, dates, and known gaps. Use the documentation to prepare a handoff, then confirm the accepted formats and implementation scope with the dg2n team.

Review the baseline and compare alternatives

Check the facility model with a site operator before trusting a scenario. Compare the baseline with observed operations, record assumptions, and test a small set of changes. The first deliverable should be a reviewed model and an explained comparison that an operator can accept, revise, or reject.

Prepare the project handoff

Use the DG2N documentation to prepare your files and project discussion. A first model supports an explained comparison; it does not by itself establish measured customer outcomes.
